I recently purchased a server with a 3ware Raid Cards 8006-2LP controller.  I am using it with CenTOS 5.2  The Install detects the 8006-2LP and everything seems fine until it actually starts to install the packages.  Sometimes it will install all the files and fail when configuring the boot loader at the end of the OS install.  Sometimes it fails at other times.  Without the 3ware controller isntalled all works well.  I have 4 GByte of system RAM.

There is a known issue with Intel EM64T systems with 4GB of RAM or more.  The embedded 3w-xxxx driver will not work.  Use the driver in 3ware KB article 14546 instead. 

If you update the kernel after install, please use the updated source in KB 14546.
